EDU 691. Leading Innovation and Change 3-0-3
In this course the educational leader candidates will acquire experience in how to use professional learning to develop their faculties and lead change. The candidates will inspect research findings on effective professional learning, examine National Staff Development Council standards, and identify areas of strength and need related to the implementation of the professional development standard in their school. The students will acquire strategies to provide and protect time for job-embedded professional learning such as active learning, colaborative learning, sustained learning over multiple days over mulitple weeks, and deeper knowledge of content and how to teach it. The ultimate goal is to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge, skills and disposition related to the importance of developing and implementing a clear vision for school improvement within a school using professional learning.
