EDU 632. Intro to Autism Spectrum Disorder and Other Developmental Disorders for Educators 3-0-3
An introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities including intellectual disabilities. Course discusses core and associated characteristics of ASD and other developmental disorders, the historical framework and underlying theories, diagnostic criteria based on the DSMV and IDEA, diagnostic assessment tools, social communication, behavior, transitioning to the community, and evidence based strategies/programs to promote inclusion and self-determination. This course has been designed to cover a number of the Standards and Indicators required for the State of Georgia’s Autism Education Endorsement Program. PR: EDU 634 or PSY 434.
